Description: Meeting minutes from the Indiana State Board of Colonization documenting members discussions, decisions, and issues relating to the colonization of Liberia.
The Indiana State Board of Colonization was formed in 1852 through a law passed by the General Assembly. The board was in charge of appropriating funds, collecting fines for Article 13 violations, and collecting voluntary contributions to purchase land in Liberia for Black Americans in Indiana who wanted to emigrate.
