1848-09-05 Letter to Mother Mary Lecor, Superior General of Sisters of Providence, Ruillé-sur-Loir

Description: A letter to Mother Mary Lecor describing the election of Sister Mary Cecilia Bailly as First Assistant and St. Francis Xavier Le Fer as Novice Mistress and Mother Theodore, to her chagrin, receiving the pectoral cross of a superior general. She discusses the character of Sister Mary Cecilia Bailly, Sister Basilide Sénéchal, and Sister St. Vincent Ferrer Gagé, the lessening of Protestant prejudice, a meeting with the Governor of Indiana, James Whitcomb, the political problems in France, and her increasing debt. Dated September 5, 1848.
