Five suffragists on tour

Description: Five suffragists, including Marie Stuart Edwards (middle) and their luggage during a western tour on behalf of the womens suffrage movement. The women appear to be working at a desk on the sidewalk. The group included (left to right) Adah E. Bush of Indiana, Mary McDowell of Chicago (second from the left, respectively), Marie Stuart Edwards, Della Dortch, and Mrs. Gilford Pinchot. The women traveled to San Francisco to attend the National League of Women Voters conference in August 1922. Edwards, a womens rights activist and reformer from Peru, Indiana, was president of the Womans Franchise League of Indiana (1917-1919); a director of National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) (1920-1921) and first vice president of the National League of Women Voters (1921-1923).
