Interview with Lena Denny Berry Love, thought to have been the first woman pharmacist in Lebanon. She was the long-time owner of the Mitchell and Berry Drug Store (previously known as Hammond and Mitchell). Love describes how she entered the pharmacy business, the various articles sold at the store (including medicines, cosmetics, candy, and paints), and the stores soda fountain. She and the interviewer, B. J. Goodwin, describe Lebanons mid-20th century Saturday night culture and how this impacted downtown businesses. As well, they discuss several other prominent women entrepreneurs in Lebanon, including Lena Lovell, founder of the LeMar Shop. |
