Interview with Nealia Cline

Description: Interview with Nealia Cline a long-time resident of Lebanon. Born in 1896, she grew up in Jackson Township (she seems to assert that the township was named for her grandfather) but graduated from Lebanon High School. She describes the Lebanon Chautauqua and the Boone County Fair (when it was held at the Agricultural Society fairgrounds, later the site of Memorial Park), gives a description of an interurban train, and discusses early 20th century dating customs and fashions. She describes various chores, both on a farm and in housekeeping (she mentions her Campbell-Smith-Ritche cabinet) and relates her first experiences with radios, telephones (her familys first phone was on a party line), automobiles, and airplanes. Cline also describes homefront activities during World War I. She was a teacher in Lebanons schools for several years and later had a second career as a saleswoman and then regional manager for Comptons Pictured Encyclopedia.
