Description:	This letter was written by William R. Lowes to his wife Rhoda (Rody) and his daughter Elizabeth (Lizzi) Lowes while he was stationed with the 70th Indiana Infantry Regiment in Lookout Valley near Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1864. it concerns family life and camp life, his thoughts on generals Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman and their Corps commanding officers, and his hopes for the end of the war.
