557. 1937 cottage flood damage

Description: The photographic image of the 1937 flood damage to cottage row of Rose Island demonstrates the power of ten feet of water. The cottages are lifted from their foundations. The house to the far left is splintered into the center cottage, which is tilted and turned into the edge of the cottage on the right. This cottage is resting partially in a tree, with debris hanging from its floor and scattered around the ground. In the background are tiny glimpses of the destruction of the cottages in the back row.
