At the end of World War I as troops returned from Europe, a Welcome Home parade was given in celebration in Indianapolis on May 7, 1919. A large replica of the Arc de Triomphe was constructed on Monument Circle. The image shows the American Red Cross in the distance on the steps of Soldiers and Sailors Monument, cars passing through the arc, and the street lined with soldiers. |
