Indianapolis Naval Reserve Armory building

Description: The Indianapolis Naval Reserve Armory, constructed between 1936-1938, is located at 1626 West 30th Street along the eastern bank of the White River in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Armory was a Works Progress Administration project and was built as a training facility for Indianas Naval Reserve. In 1964, the Armory was renamed the Heslar Naval Armory in honor of Captain Ola Fred Heslar, the first Commanding Officer of Indianas Naval Reserve. In later years, the building would house the Naval Reserve as well as the Marine Corps Reserve. In 2015, the Naval and Marine Reserves moved out of the armory. The building has since been converted into Riverside High School, which opened welcomed its first class in August 2017.
