Korean War Letter from William Lawrence Montgomery to Jesse G. Dorsey 25 Oct 1951

Description: William is on his third week of basic training at Ft. George G. Meade in Maryland. He has eight more weeks of infantry training and then eight weeks of medical training. He remarks about going to Washington DC and seeing the capitol for the first time. He enjoys getting the letters and Speed-O-Meter from Jesse. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
