Sharpe Fabric and Clothing Store Ledger, Charlestown, Indiana 1850-1851

Description: The Sharpe Store was on Main Street in Charlestown, Indiana. It was owned by John Sharpe. This ledger is an account book from 3 January 1850 to 20 August 1851 for the sale of clothing, fabrics, and sewing supplies. In the book, a person is listed as having made a purchases with a list of items and prices or as having receiving a credit on their account either by cash, note, work, or goods. The goods were items such as shingles, lard, wood, bees wax, eggs, sausages, and butter. Some people are listed with a credit for making clothing that was sold in the store. There are several references to account balance owed previous to “the fire”. A few pages are missing from the book.
