McGee letter from Civil War soldier to Belle McGee 29 Jul 1862

Description: These four pages are part of a letter written by an unknown Civil War Soldier on 29 July 1862. The last pages of the letter are missing. The soldier was in the 27th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was near Washington Court House in Virginia when he wrote the letter. It is written to Miss Belle McGee of Polk Run Clark County, Indiana. He addresses her as My Dear Friend. He writes about Uncle Will Sweetly passing away. He tells about getting wounded in the leg and how he lost his Company in the battle and is waiting to join another Company.
