Clark County Court House photograph, Charlestown, Indiana

Description: Photograph of the first Clark County Court House which was later used as the Charlestown School in Charlestown, Indiana. This building was built in 1852 on the town square facing Short Street. It was the county seat until 1878 when the county seat was moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana. The building was then used for the Charlestown School from 1878 until 1917 when it was torn down. The first Jonathan Jennings School was then built on the same property in 1918. The photograph has some hand coloring added to it.
