Description: In 1928 Herbert Hoover won the presidential election over Alfred Smith. Herman Popp and Karl Kramer, both of Silver Creek Township, made a wager on the outcome of the election. The Louisville Cement Company can be seen in the background. People in the picture are Herman Popp wearing the poster of Alfred Smith. To his right (going left to right) are: in the front Tony Hoffman, Kenneth Hoffman, Randall Hauck (eating ice cream); second row Charles Bottorff, Jarvis Dago Bottorff; third row Laurent “Dutch” Cowling, Roland Stoner and Lloyd Bottorff; fourth row James Griffin and Harry Collins; to Popp’s left is Gilbert Himebaugh.
