Bailly Family

Description: Rose Bailly Howe, daughter of one of the first Euro-American settlers of Westchester Township, Joseph Bailly, is seen here in the early 1850s with her daughters. Her younger daughter, Frances Rose, is pictured on the left, and her elder daughter, Rose Frances, stands to the right. In 1907 Frances Howe published The Story of a French Homestead in the Old Northwest, an account of the history of her family. Her sister, Rose Frances Howe, an artist, lived on the Bailly Homestead until her death at about age 40. Frances died in 1917 while on a trip to California.
