Bell Printing Company fire

Description: The Bell Printing Company was located at 320 S. Main Street when this fire broke out. On the morning of November 26, 1943, Patrolman Russell L. Bowlby detected wood smoke and traced it back to the Bell building where he discovered the fire. The fire spread into the Western Union Telegraph office where intense heat cracked the plate glass window of its front. The firemen continued to fight the fire in the afternoon. The Bell Printing Co., purchased in 1908 by James Bell, later moved to 113 S. Main Street. This picture was taken looking north on S. Main Street.
