4/8/1973 Capt. Richard C. Brenneman Day welcome-home celebration at Mishawaka High School. 4/9/1973 page 1 Sunday was a special day for the family of Capt. Richard C. Brenneman of Mishawaka. It was five years and four months from the time the Air Force pilot was shot down over North Vietnam until he was released and returned home. From left are his sister, Druzelle, his father, Lloyd, his mother, Hildegarde, and brother, Brian, who also sang in the choir which performed at the Sunday afternoon homecoming ceremony for the Mishawaka pilot. Capt. Brenneman thanked his two families: His immediate one and the 200 million Americans who remembered the POWs through their letters. More than 1,000 people attended the ceremony in the Mishawaka High School gymnasium. (More pictures on Page 17). Photo by: Elkhart Truth - William Wilson. |
