Description: |
On May 15, 1911, The Indiana nosed over after failing to take off. It was the only airplane built by the McClellan Aviation Company. It was transported to the Elkhart Driving Park for its trial flight; growing crowds of spectators forced them to move to the Kenwood Golf Grounds for the maiden flight. Power failure was blamed for the crash. Aviator William McGreanor survived without serious injury although ordered to bed by the attending physician at the crash site. |
