Description: |
Built in 1905 and located at 517 S. Second Street, the Winchester mansion was originally owned by Charles H. (president of First National Bank) and Elizabeth Winchester (seen sitting in their vehicle). Their daughter Nellie, along with her husband William H. Knickerbocker, also lived in the house at that time. Mrs. Knickerbocker lived in the house until her death in 1947. Some believe the Winchester mansion is an E. Hill Turnock design, but this has not been substantiated. The Winchester Mansion still stands on the NW corner of Harrison and Second. |
