Description: |
Winky Dink, a TV cartoon character, needed help from viewers in the first interactive TV program in the 1950s. On Saturday morning, children used a special crayon and plastic sheet on the TV screen to help Winky Dink when the character needed a magic bridge or a ladder. The show was an almost instant hit, and inspired this sleeper, one example of many toys and clothes that TV programs produced for young fans. Windy Dinky ran from 1953 to 1957. Some parents were not happy with the show because their children drew directly on the TV glass without the magic plastic sheet! |
