Morozko stick puppet

Description: This story is about a widower with a lovely daughter who marries a woman who had a daughter from a previous marriage. The stepmother hated her new stepdaughter and made her husband take her away to the forest and leave her there to die. The man grieved, but took his daughter to the forest. Morozko, or Old Man Winter, came upon her, and though he was going to freeze her, he took mercy on her and gave her a warm fur coat and a box of jewelry as a present. The daughter walked back home and the stepmother, being very jealous of her jewels, sent her own daughter to gather the presents. Morozko found the girl, and not taking mercy, he froze her. The lovely widowers daughter lived happily ever after.
