Lips sofa

Description: What happens when you combine furniture with a celebrity film star? In this case, a sofa in the shape of bright red lips! Marilyn Monroe, American 1950s and 1960s film star, continues to inspire fashion today. During the 1960s Gufram of Italy designed this sofa celebrating the bold style of both Monroe and furniture design. Pop art furniture design in the 1960s was irreverent, humorous and gimmicky. For the first time, furniture fabrics were strong primary colors often set off by sleek, shiny plastic or glass. This sofa represents a new generation of European and American artists and designers that produced furniture that was fun, but only sometimes truly functional.
