Description: |
In India, incense is burned as an offering to the Hindu deities. In some households it is burned daily during certain times at the family shrine. Incense is also burned in temples and festivals to honor particular gods or goddesses. Images are given food, flowers and other gifts as incense is burned. This incense burner is decorated with Garuda standing at the base. Garuda is king of the birds in Hindu mythology and flies around with the Hindu god Vishnu, the preserver and protector of creation, on his back. |
