Description: |
The Republic of Bolivia is located in the center of South America. Bolivia’s largest population is comprised of Amerindians, the indigenous peoples originally inhabiting the land before European explorers. The Quechua and Aymara peoples are two of the largest groups. The rugged terrain of Bolivia, the inadequate road system, and the scattered population of the people in rural areas warrant the use of heavy trucks, like this particular model. Designed to carry heavy goods as well as people, these trucks operate primarily in rural areas. An artist from Artesania Sorata, a team of artisans from Bolivia, created this artwork. Started in 1978 in a rural area of the Andes mountain range, Artesania Sorata consists of over 300 rural and urban artisans who create traditional textiles and artwork to celebrate their lifestyle. |
