Description: |
Peacocks are well known for their brilliant plumage. The male bird is called the peacock while the female is referred to as the peahen. Collectively these birds are known as peafowl. The peacock uses its colorful tail feathers to attract a female. The male will approach a potential mate with its tail outspread and then proceeds to hop from one foot to the next -- in the firm conviction that this will seem attractive to the female of the species. (One should note that this display is often met with casual indifference by the peahen.) |
