Diamondback Terrapin are found in salt marshes and lagoons along the east and southern coasts. At the turn of the century Diamondback meat was highly prized, making their numbers greatly decrease. The destruction of much of their habitat has reduced their numbers even more. Recent protective legislation has restored some populations. |
