Balance the Budget card game

Description: Ever worry your parents will run out of money before giving allowances? In a similar way, some people worried the government was spending too much money when this game was made in 1938. To have a balanced budget, the government can’t spend more money than it raises in taxes. The blue cards are the income the government earned by charging taxes on gasoline, income, and other goods. The red cards are programs the government paid for like the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) that built power plants and controlled flooding to improve the lives of rural farmers. Since everyone has a different opinion on how to spend money, Congress and the President of the United States must work out a plan to make the best use of the money it raises in taxes each year. In this card game, the players must work it out.
