Oh the places you can go! Each of these felt pennants represents a popular vacation spot in the United States during the 20th century. After 1900, many middle class families could afford to travel out of state on vacation. Businesses, the government and health care professionals began to encourage people to take a holiday from work and granted vacation time. By the 1950s, the development of the Interstate Highway System allowed families to use the automobile to travel across the country. |
