The giant clam is the largest mollusk in the world. While this specimen is only 12 inches long, some may reach a length of over 48 inches and weigh well over 500 pounds. Both sides of the shell are heavily fluted and have interlocking teeth. These animals can primarily be found in the Indian and South Pacific Oceans. |
