This box is for storing spices or masala. Authentic Indian food incorporates an aromatic blending of spices. The box may have held basic spices like turmeric, chili powder, cumin seed, coriander, ginger, garlic, mustard seed, and fenugreek seed. Food varies greatly across India, from the fairly hot Muslim influence in the north, to the hot, spicy curries of the south. |
