Declines invitation to attend dinner for Susan B. Anthony in Washington, D.C. on February 15, 1890. Her life has been one of continual sacrifice, etc.Charles F. Manderson (1837-1911), lawyer, Union soldier, and U.S. senator from Nebraska. He was a commissioned officer in the Civil War and rose to the level of colonel of his regiment, the Nineteenth Ohio Infantry. During the battle of Lovejoy Station he was so seriously wounded that after being brevetted brigadier-general of volunteers, he resigned his commission. He again took up the practice of law, and was later elected to the United States senate, serving from 1883-1895. He was also an advocate of womens voting rights during the Nebraska constitutional convention in 1871. |
