Letter from Benjamin S. Parker to May Wright Sewall.

Description: (From New Castle, Indiana). Mr. Parker invites Mrs. Sewall or a member of the Federation of Womens Clubs to address the annual meeting of the Western Association of Writers. He then goes into the need for literary clubs in the smaller towns and villages. He laments the idle uneducated tongues and the wild-eyed so-called religious revivals. He speaks of goody-goodyism on one hand and rowdyism on the other, etc.Benjamin Strattan Parker (1833-1911), farmer, teacher, grocer, grain dealer, writer, and politician, of Henry County, Ind. Chairman of the Program Committee for the Western Association of Writers, an organization founded in Indiana in 1886 to promote the work of writers in the West and the Midwest.
