Letter from W.O. Gresham to May Wright Sewall.

Description: Mr. Gresham acknowledges Sewalls letter requesting that the government of Germany name two women to attend a Worlds Congress of Representative Women coincident with the Wortlds Columbian Exposition in Chicago. He states that the U.S. minister in Berlin has been directed to acquaint the minister of foreign affairs with the matter.Walter Quintin Gresham was a Indiana-born attorney and judge who worked in the cabinets of Presidents Chester Arthur and Grover Cleveland. He was appointed Secretary of State in 1893 and served until his death in 1895.
