Description: |
Mr. Blackwell has written to Sewall to ask for the address of Mrs. Avery T. Dunn or her husband Dr. Dunn. Mrs. Dunn apparently had years earlier begun a biographical sketch of Lucy Stones childhood and Blackwell is seeking a copy. (Mrs. Stone had passed away approximately six weeks before this letter was written.)Blackwell, an enthusiastic reformer, was well-known for his support of abolition and of woman suffrage. He was the husband of Lucy Stone, brother of Elizabeth Blackwell, brother-in-law of Antoinette Blackwell and father of Alice Stone Blackwell. He served as editor of the Womans Journal, Boston. |
