Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: Police are on the scene, there to protect the firefighters; Female caller asking where the fire on the west side is located; Engine 5 called in reporting being stoned. Dispatch told Engine 5 to leave the scene, and standby. All apparatus in that area told to pull out; Female caller reporting Big 10 on fire; Dispatch identified as Bob, was told to tell check-ins to call by telephone; Report of being on a Code 4 for the rest of the night; Questions about the colored crew supposed to be going in; Mrs. Gardner at 1544 Milburn, and reported a fire at Block? Warehouse.; Firemen calling in and reporting there were not policemen on site while they were getting unloaded on at Blake St.; Multiple callers reporting the fire at 900 block of Indiana Ave. Car 10 is told to bring the two way radio and meet Chief Van Sant? At Headquarters.; Task Force 9 directed to meet the police at Indiana and West St. 12:16am, District 3 instructed to assist Task Force 9.; Female caller reporting a fire from 1051 Brookes, the fire if off of Indiana avenue on W. 10th St.; Task Force 9 told to precede up Indiana Avenue , the police will meet at Douglas and Indiana Ave.; Task Force 3 told to proceed up Indiana Ave. at 12:28am. Task Force 9 calling for more police.; Chief Van Sant? asking dispatcher, Bob, to ring up to Chaplin, requesting Jerry Marlette’s? phone number; Dispatcher, Bob Cooper, called Chaplin inquiring if Chief Blazic was in yet, Blazic was headed to the city county building to the riot room.; Dispatch to the 33s, talking to Goodwin?, asking if the ambulance stayed there to come with them. The ambulance stayed on the scene with police.; Female caller reporting that the fire truck tending the Lockefield Garden fire had been set on fire.; Apparatus in trouble at Blake and Indiana Avenue.; Last minute is dead air
