Group portrait of Company F of the 5th Province Battalion of Engineers at Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1819. Several hold bugles and a dog is also pictured. The fort was established as a training center for the Indiana National Guard in June of 1904 in Lawrence Township, Marion County. During World War I, it became one of the largest Army training and mobilization sites in the country, hosting three large officer training camps which included a division that trained engineers. |
