View of Camp McClellan barracks and soldiers of the 12th Ammunition Transport at their base at Camp McClellan in Alabama in September, 1918. The kitchen crew is dressed in their white cooks uniforms. Now called Fort McClellan, the camp was located near Anniston, Alabama on the site of what was once Camp Shipp during the Spanish-American War. It was established in July 1917 and named in honor of Major General George B. McClellan, General-in-Chief of the United States Arty from 1861 to 1862. |
