10th Annual Session of the New Bethel Baptist Church

Description: Group portrait of the men, women, and children of the New Bethel Baptist Church congregation in the 1920s. The African American church was organized in July, 1875 by Reverend Jacob R. Reiner. It began in the home of William Jackson in Indianapolis, then moved to 83 Beeler Street. The street would go through several name changes before the church would acquire its current address, 1535 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue, on the same property.
The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. Interpositives are stored in PAN number order.
