Co. D., M.T.C. Camp Winona, Lake Winona, Ind.

Description: Military training camps were established on college campuses and other sites throughout the state. In October 1918, Winona Lake became a training site for motor transport duties and also student army training corps. Over 1,000 soldiers gathered in the hotels of the resort area. When Armistice came in November, the captain from the training camp led his soldiers and the citizens from Winona on a march to Warsaw to celebrate.
