Stringer Ford Bridge Construction Crew, No. 1

Description: The town of Brookville was particularly devastated with 15 people killed in the March 1913 flood. Someone from the town made it to Connersville and sent out this message: “Levee broken. Valley flooded. Heavy loss life. Paper Mill destroyed and all bridges out.” It would take several years for the state to recover. At the same time, communities immediately began to plan ways to prevent flooding of such magnitude from ever happening again.
