Description: |
People drive boats into the Piggly Wiggly grocery store on Market Street in downtown New Albany, Indiana during the January 1937 flood in an effort to save provisions. On the second floor a man straddles a window and holds onto the store’s sign as he leans out to look down the street. Waters reached nearly five feet deep in this area. |
