Claude E. Windell, owner and operator of Windells Service Station, and his son Jackie weigh a variety of rubber articles as part of a national campaign to collect scrap rubber during World War II. Citizens dropped off scrap rubber items to service stations throughout Harrison County to participate. Among the items collected were old tires, boots, a rubber mouse, and a stethoscope. The collection campaign took place from June 15 through June 30, 1942. |
