Description: |
Harrison County Commissioners and Highway Department personnel assemble to examine the countys new road grader. Seated at the controls are John Klipsch, an employee of the manufacturers who delivered the machine, and Emery Bruner, county highway maintenance crew worker who is operating the unit. Standing in front, left to right, are: County Highway Supervisor Michael Duley, and County Commissioners Cecil Nolot, Owen Bussabarger, and Arlis Coffman. The new machine known as a Patrol was larger and heavier than similar units owned by the county to this date, and was more effective and efficient in moving rocks. The grader would allow the maintenance crew to cover a greater percentage of the extensive network of county roads, which totaled around 970 miles in the late 1940s. |
