Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: In the top left, two men inspect a large animal print on the ground in front of them. One of them is holding a rifle. Behind them, another man with a rifle approaches. A dog sees the track and cowers in fear, while another dog in the background runs away. A fourth man leaps over a fence and fires his rifle, possibly accidentally. In the top right panel, a man sticks his head out of a doorway and calls to the cat. Below this is a depiction of the cat based on descriptions. It is huge, dwarfing a dog which runs in terror as the cat extends its paw. Its claws and teeth are very large and it has a pair of horns behind its ears. It looks out at the viewer. At the bottom left, a familys meal is interrupted by the cats howls, which come in through the open window. These noises are apparently so loud and forceful that they have blown back the window shade. A man and a child sit at a table in front of the window. Their hair stands on end from fright and the man is spilling his drink. He has a rifle on his lap. A dogs tail and back legs can be seen as it flees. Behind the table, woman stands in a doorway and speaks to the man. A second child runs toward the woman. A cat arches its back and puffs out its fur. In the bottom right, Knechts elephant sits on a stool in front of an open book and five closed books, which have dates on them. The open book shows a report on a similar incident that occurred in 1910.
