ELECTION DAY Could and should be made more applicable. U.S.A. with around 100,000,000 eligible to vote--out of population of 175,000,000, only 1/2 vote. Locally with 91,056 eligible--check this morning figures, how many did? They tell us to! Dont take any. Here, who to vote for Sister. High time to keep workers away form voting places: are a nuisance. Eliminate political poll book checkers on outside--. Clerks in inside do check registration lists. Whats name? Smith? No, Brown. It was colder in May. Tacking signs on trees and poles is not permitted by law... Vote for... More and more have polling-places to vote--in public places, not in small rooms of private homes. Schools, church halls, etc. This law has been suggested. Law: for those who can and do not vote a fine or add $10.00 fine to their taxes if they do not vote. No place to park! We wont vote. Workers autos parked bumper to bumper. Vote. Vote. Vote for... Both sides of streets full for blocks. Sign there. Pardon Im through! [in margins: As An Aftermath From Observation. 11-5-1958]
