Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Safe driving reminder for 4th of July weekend, 1957. Six people, three men and three women, ride in a car made out of a firework or stick of dynamite. Death sits on the back of the car and lights a fuse labeled Speed. Death is angry that his deadly fireworks have been banned, but he is confident that he will find other ways to cause fatal accidents over the holiday weekend. In the bottom right corner, Knechts elephant holds up a skyrocket firework to show the fin tail on the end.

So--they took away my deadly fireworks--! Did they!! Speed. More explosive, noisy, deadly, destructive. Bang, bang. ZZZZ. Squeak. Squeal. Eek. Recall--skyrockets had fin fish-tails? [in margins: Death Always Finds A Way--]
