Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: On the right side of the cartoon is a conveyor belt device with shoes attached to it. On the left side of the cartoon, Public leans on a counter with his back to the conveyor belt. The shoes kick him in the rear end as the belt goes up and around one of the rollers powering it. The shoes are labeled things like shortages, government regulations, strike, and prices. A man swaps out the shoes which have already hit Public for new ones. John Lewis holds up a shoe labeled Coal Strike and tells the man to hang it back on if Uncle says NO. Other men in the background select shoes from a bin.
