Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Cartoon about the parking situation in downtown Evansville, especially around the Courthouse. Top: A driver circles around several blocks searching for a parking space but fails to find one. The curb and parking lots are all full. He then pushes his car into the river and decides to walk. Center: An aerial view of the courthouse, showing how many cars can currently be parked on the curb surrounding the building. Some cars, which belong to county officials, are parked in the buildings entryway. Several spaces must be left vacant for use by people taking driving tests. A suggestion for providing more parking is illustrated: if the sidewalk on two sides of the building was set back away from the street, angled parking areas could be created, providing several more spaces. Bottom right: Illustration of cars parked around the statehouse in Indianapolis.

An additional 20 to 24 can be parked--it is said-- If as suggested--the sidewalk on Vine and Court Streets be set back in large lawn enough to permit angle parking.
