Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Cartoon depicting President Trumans visit to Evansville. Buildings flew American flags. Office holders in the court house put up posters of their favored candidates in their windows. A stage area with a canopy and a huge Truman-Barkley banner was set up. Many people violated the no parking order along the Presidents route. Police officers and military police were in attendance. A crowd of thousands gathered; many had to return to work before Truman arrived because he was over two hours late. Mayor Dress and County Chairman Rauscher rode in a convertible with the President. Truman apologized for being late.
