Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Top left: Overhead view of a city block occupied by a large building. Cars are parked all along the curb on the streets surrounding the block. A newspaper clipping says that parked autos hampered efforts of firemen at big fire. Top right: Two men fight over the hands of a clock on Northern Indiana City Halls. They and a crowd of people around the governor are fighting about Indianas time zone(s). Bottom left: A train labeled Caravan of Hope is parked in a station. Inside the train there is an exhibition on displaced persons and the new nation of Israel. A gray Star of David is superimposed over the panel. Bottom right: A train engine from 1849 and one from 1949 discuss the centennial celebration for the C.&E.I. railroad. The 1849 engine says it is going to select a 100-year old woman to be Century Belle.
